Opera for grandma

Today it would be my grandma’s birthday. Mom’s mom. We lived all together, first in the same apartment and then on different floors. She loved sowing, making desserts, playing šikano with grandpa for the same couple of British pound coins every evening, and opera. She often told me the story of Madame Butterfly. Who knows what she would think about these added instruments, but this song is for her.

Except that whenever grandpa heard a woman singing opera, he said that it’s again that z-operna pevka, which is a word game. In Slovenian language, operna pevka means “opera singer”, whereas zoprna means “obnoxious”. Always the joker. But said with love.
